The immediate area still carries some of its resort-town character. Kovalam Beach is close by for water sports, jet skiing, parasailing and windsurfing among them. VGP Universal Kingdom, Dakshinachitra Museum, Sri Kandaswamy Temple and the Crocodile Bank are all listed as nearby attractions along this stretch. Two ways in: ECR versus OMR
Chennai gives you two realistic road options for reaching Uthandi from the city or the airport. East Coast Road runs along the coast and is the more scenic, generally less congested route outside peak hours. The inland Old Mahabalipuram Road corridor further west connects to the IT parks but adds distance if the beach is where you're headed. For a leisure trip, ECR is almost always the better choice, fewer signals, a coastal drive, and it drops you close to the property directly. It doesn't suit anyone whose trip depends on quick access to Chennai Central, an early flight with little buffer, or the city's business districts.
